You must have a current NYS pistol permit/license to enroll in the 47-Hour Firearms Security Training Course. You must have a NYS pistol license/permit, even if you are retired law enforcement. We reserve the right to cancel or refuse a registration that does not meet this requirement.

This course is taught by our New York State DCJS Certified firearms security instructors. Our comprehensive firearms training course covers the fundamentals of gun safety, tactical shooting, proper use of deadly force, and gun care for pistols. This firearms course is for novices and accomplished shooters alike.

The cost of this course includes teaching materials, time on the range, targets, qualification, and use of safety equipment.

Ammunition, firearms, and holsters are not included in the course cost. Participants must supply their own ammunition (500 rounds) and bring their the handgun to qualify on (this will be the handgun you are able to carry as an armed guard). Participants must pass a shooting course with at least 70% in the designated target area, as well as score at least 70% on a written exam. Upon completion and passing of this course, participants will be issued a Certificate of Completion. This certificate must be submitted with an application to the NYS Department of State to apply for a security guard registration change of status to armed security guard. The application fees are required by New York State and have no connection with your armed security guard training. You must bring your current NYS Pistol Permit/License to the class; Those who fail to bring this required documentation will not be permitted to take this course. 

You must complete all the days in the course and pass the exams to receive a certificate of completion.
